I'm quite pleased with this butter crock. I fill with 1 & 1/4 sticks of room softened butter and change the water about every 2 or 3 days. I'm not sure a child with small hands would find the large lid size easy to lift off, but once off, it sits securely upright for easy serving. Superb quality crockery.
