We refinished this family red mahogany Empire Style desk as a wedding gift for dear friends. It is estimated to be 1830 to 1850. We were advised by a friend that uses this product in a refinishing business and it worked wonderfully. Prior to applying the Mylan wax we cleaned the original finish with 0000 steel wool and Minwax antique furniture cleaner, and a final wipe down with lacquer thinner.Great product! I will definitely want to use this again! I used it on an antique jointers tool chest and it brought the color back without losing the patina.This is just what I needed to complete the book case in the hall for my sweet wife. We painted the case a light gray then used the was to put an antique finish on the project. The wax was just what we needed. The piece is worth a $1000 bucks now. We love this stuff.High quality product!Makes a great wax finish when used in combination with stain or polish. I use this stain on hand-turned predator and waterfowl calls.This is my second order of the wax. I have never found another wax that even comes close to the quality that Mylands has.
